A little bit about the SLGCC... The Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club (formerly the Ojibway Golf & Curling Club) is one of the many wonderful attractions to the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Located in the heart of Northern Ontario, Sioux Lookout is a recreational activity-seeker's dream. The SLGCC is proud to be established in such a culturally rich area, with many indoor and outdoor sports to offer. The club dates back to the early sixties when it was designed by its founders. In the beautiful late spring and early summer months, the SLGCC promises a scenic and relaxing golfing experience on its beautiful, strategic 9 hole course, which presents a good test for the high and low handicap player from its three sets of tees. Water will come into play on three holes and the blue grass/ fescue greens roll between 8.5 and 9 on the stimp meter. The most challenging hole is also the most scenic, the par three 8th at 181 yards from the back tees. This tee shot is over water to a large undulating green and plays longer than the length on the score card as it is uphill and into the prevailing breeze. A well struck long iron or fairway wood is required to find this green. Each summer the club also holds the Blueberry Open Golf Tournament, with the ladies and men playing on separate weekends. During the fall and winter months, the SLGCC is actively committed to promoting and hosting the sport of curling, encouraging all ages and levels of curlers to come out and participate. No matter what time of year you plan to visit or relocate to Sioux Lookout, the SLGCC's doors are open to everyone. With all of the amenities and the very sociable atmosphere the SLGCC prides itself on, it is easy to see why there is a solid membership and a growing interest in the sports of Golf and Curling.
